Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's soccer season ends in shootout loss

Coming off a 7-0 win over Milwaukee Area Technical College, the Madison College men's soccer team had high hopes entering Saturday's NJCAA Region IV Tournament quarterfinal against Rock Valley College. Unfortunately, after neither team was able to score through 90 minutes, the WolfPack would fall in a shootout 4-2, ending their season.

In regulation, both goalies were fantastic. Madison College keeper Thomas Sheahan made 10 saves, while Jesus Galvez stopped nine shots on the other side of the field.

As is to be expected in playoff soccer, the game proved to be quite physical. Five cards were issued during the game, including Andrew Zimmerman drawing two yellow cards, which lead to an ejection in the game's 82nd minute.

The Golden Eagles got first crack in the shootout, making it count as Edwin Munoz scored on the team's opening try. Following a Timothy Vallon miss, Drake Szyp would give Rock Valley a 2-0 edge.

Casey Risch kept the 'Pack's chances alive, hitting the second attempt for Madison College, and in turn cutting the RVC lead to 2-1. After the Golden Eagles found the back of the net for the third time in as many tries, Yacouba Koita would answer for the WolfPack. However, the team still found itself trailing 3-2.

The end would come as Hassan Kamel made it 4-for-4 for Rock Valley, while David Sievers was unsuccessful on his try.

Madison College finishes their season 6-8-2 overall, including a 5-4-1 mark in the North Central Community College Conference (N4C).
