Box Score In a game which saw nine players score in double figures, the Madison College women's basketball team outlasted in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College 104-97, polishing off the Stormers in overtime.
Gabrielle Hood was the star of the show, finishing with a game-high 29 points.
The game was played at an extremely quick pace, with Milwaukee getting the better of the back and forth action in the first half, taking a two point lead into the break. The difference in the 42-40 score, the Stormers hit two more free throws. The two teams each knocked down 16 field goals in the opening 20 minutes.
In the second half, Madison College would hit just two three-point attempts. However, that's all they'd need, as Milwaukee once again made the same number of buckets, but wasn't able to dial one in from long distance.
Heading into overtime, the WolfPack seemed to want it more. In the extra frame, Madison College outscored Milwaukee 17-10 to grab the victory. The team hit nine of their 14 free throw attempts in the additional five minutes to seal the deal.
Hood finished the game 10-of-20 shooting from the floor. However, she was far from the only standout in the game for the 'Pack.
Chelsey Schulenburg poured in 25 points, with
Kelly Calhoun and
Ellyn Hayden adding 15 and 10, respectively.
All five starters for the Stormers scored in double figures, including former member of the WolfPack Sakeenah Rashada, who finished with 10 points.
Madison College made good on 27 Milwaukee turnovers, scoring 28 points off the Stormers mistakes. Meanwhile, Milwaukee tallied 22 points off 25 Madison turnovers.
The WolfPack (11-5, 3-0) have now won four straight games. They will look to continue their winning ways when they welcome Wilbur Wright College to town Saturday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m.
