The WolfPack soccer team had some room for improvement in their Saturday match against Waubonsee Community College, an NJCAA Divison I team.
In the first half, Waubonsee took the lead in the 31st minute with a goal by Bernie Conley, assisted by Rodrigo Bernal. Madison College, despite their best efforts, did not manage to score on the Chiefs before heading in to halftime.
In the second half, Waubonsee solidified their lead on the WolfPack with a goal in the 66th minute from Bernal, assisted by Oscar Martinez. In the 75th minute, Conley broke through the WolfPack's defense once again, this time assisted by Juan Luis Perez. Martinez, unassisted, would score one more goal for Waubonsee in the 76th minute. The 'Pack, however, refused to be discouraged:
Marcos Meneses, assisted by
Ittay Rivas, had a response to give to Waubonsee in the form of a goal in the 82nd minute. The final score of the game was 4-1.
The loss puts the team's record at 2-2 overall and 2-1 in conference play. Madison College ended the game with 6 shots, as opposed to Waubonsee's 19.
WolfPack soccer will play again at Joliet Junior College on Wednesday, Sept. 18 at 4 p.m.
