WolfPack soccer falls short versus Triton, loses 3-2

In a match that really proved how far the WolfPack soccer team has come, in a very short amount of time, Madison College lost by just a single goal to Triton College Wednesday night. The Trojans played in the NJCAA Division III Men's Soccer National Championship Tournament just a season ago.

Triton College would get on the board first, but not until the 41st minute, when Pierre Day scored an unassisted goal. Shortly after, Elliot Pieper evened things up for the WolfPack, putting one past Trojans goalkeeper Nosek Mateusz in the 45th minute. Marcos Meneses was credited with the assist on the WolfPack's first goal.

After heading to halftime tied at one, Triton would re-take the lead in the 70th minute on a goal by Alonso Torres. Once again, Madison College had an answer, as Meneses picked up an unassisted goal in the 77th minute.

The game would remain tied at two until Gustavo Sandoval booted one by WolfPack goalie Juan Martinez-Perez in the 89th minute.

The 3-2 loss drops Madison College's record to 2-1 overall, and 2-1 in conference play. The WolfPack would finish with eight shots, as opposed to Triton's 20.

Madison College will host Waubonsee Community College Saturday, Sept. 14. Kickoff at Warner Park Field #1 is set for 12 p.m.
