WolfPack Women Fall to #1 Rock Valley in Semifinal

Box Score The Madison College Women's Basketball team played tough against the #1 ranked and #1 seeded Rock Valley Golden Eagles.  They trailed by only eight points with 10 minutes left but could not close the gap as they fell 77-59 in the NJCAA Region IV Semifinal.

After losing to the Golden Eagles by 60 and 22 points in their two prior meetings the WolfPack hung with Rock Valley this time around.  Madison College trailed by 8 points at halftime despite making just six field goals and shooting only 27 percent of their shots from the field.  Rock Valley failed to capitalize on free throws going just 2-for-10 while Madison College stayed in the game, shooting 12-for-18 from the free throw line.

In the second half, the WolfPack got to within three points and stayed within eight points with 10 minutes left.  The Golden Eagles rattled off a 6-0 run after the 10 minute mark and the WolfPack never got closer.  Points off turnovers and second chance points proved costly for the WolfPack.  The WolfPack committed 22 turnovers and Rock Valley converted them into 19 points.  The WolfPack were outrebounded 49-31 including giving up 19 offensive rebounds which created a 19-9 deficit in second chance points. Both teams shot over 46 percent in the second half and the WolfPack were 4-for-7 from beyond the arc.  With the 77-59 win, Rock Valley moved on to the NJCAA Region IV championship game on Sunday.

Second year guard, Taylor Pfeuti, had 16 points and 6 rebounds to lead her team in her final game.  Fellow sophomores, Calli Dahl and Courtney Spangler added 12 points and 11 points, respectively.  First year guard, Alyssa Anding, also pitched in with 10 points while Chelsey Schulenbrug dished out five assists.

The WolfPack finished the 2013-14 season with a 15-17 overall record and a 9-5 record in conference play.
