Box Score The Madison College women's basketball team advanced to the NJCAA Region IV Semifinal with a 71-60 win over Harper College on Wednesday night in the NJCAA Region IV Quarterfinals.
In the first half, the visiting Harper College Hawks shot almost 54 percent from the field but allowed the WolfPack to hang around by committing 14 turnovers. The WolfPack converted those 14 turnovers into 14 points to lead by just one point (37-36) going into halftime.
Courtney Spangler paced the WolfPack with 15 points on 5-for-5 shooting from the field including a 4-for-4 effort from the free throw line.
The WolfPack came out with a better intensity in the second half and shot over 42 percent from the field to put the game out of reach down the stretch. Chelsey Shulenburg hit some key three-pointers as she was 4-for-10 from beyond the arc for 16 points. Shulenburg also contributed to the WolfPack's 16 steals with six steals herself. Harper committed 16 more turnovers in the second half and the WolfPack capitalized again, scoring 13 points off those turnovers. Madison College won 71-60 and moved on to the NJCAA Region IV Semifinal.
Courtney Spangler led the WolfPack in scoring with 22 points while
Chelsey Schulenburg added 16 points and
Alyssa Anding pitched in with 11 points.
Calli Dahl has a game high nine assists to go with her seven points.
The WolfPack will play #1 nationally ranked and tournament #1 seed, Rock Valley College, at 1:00 PM on Saturday at Harper College in Palatine, IL.
