Madison College Women’s Basketball Routes Triton

Box Score For the second time this season the Madison College WolfPack women's basketball team defeated the Triton College Trojans by at least 20 points in a 67 to 39 walloping of the visiting Trojans on Saturday afternoon. The 28 point win gives the 'Pack the season sweep of the Trojans and betters their conference record to 4-3 and 9-13 overall.

Unlike their early January meeting with Triton, Madison used a strong second half to overpower the Trojans. The WolfPack only held a four point lead at the break (26 to 22) over the Trojans thanks to the visiting team's stifling defense that limited the 'Pack's shooting to 9-of-40 (22.5%) from the field, including 0-of-9 beyond the arc. The roles were reversed in the second half and Triton managed to only shoot 26.1 percent, while Madison College shot 40.9 percent to win the second half 41 points to 17. Madison also clearly won the turnover game and forced 40 Triton turnovers to the 'Pack's 15, while scoring 39 points off those turnovers. Madison recorded 22 steals and four blocks, and forced 24 of the 40 Triton turnovers in the second half. The home team also dominated in points in the paint (44 to 20) and wore down the five-member Triton team in the second half.

Courtney Spangler led the team on offense with 19 points on 8-of-19 shooting from the field. She also hauled down eight rebounds, recorded four steals, and added one block. Ellyn Hayden picked up her first double-double of the season with 13 points and a team-leading 11 rebounds (6 offensive). Guards Alyssa Anding and Calli Dahl both had great games for the 'Pack although the duo only combined for 11 points. Anding led the team with a season-high 10 steals and tied for the team lead with seven assists. Dahl also tied for the team lead with seven assists as the two guards recorded 14 of the squad's 18 helpers. Taylor Pfeuti, who added nine points, was second on the team with five steals, while leading the team with two blocks.

The 9-13 women's basketball team hosts Harper College on Monday, February 4 for a N4C game that starts at 5:30 PM.
