DuPage Outlasts Madison College Women

Box Score The College of DuPage Chaparrals took a commanding first half lead (44 to 23) over the visiting WolfPack on February 20, and held on for the 83 to 66 win over the 'Pack. Played at Triton College in River Grove, IL, the loss to the DuPage Chaparrals marks the second N4C conference loss in a row for the 'Pack and drops their overall record to 13-16 (8-5 N4C).

DuPage shot 40.5 percent from the field in the first half and knocked down five three-point shots, and limited the 'Pack to 29.6 percent in the opening frame to jump out to the 21 point lead. The WolfPack clawed their way back into the game in the second half and actually outshot the Chaparrals (34.4% to 34.2%) in the frame for the 43 to 39 advantage, but the damage had already been done. DuPage outshot the 'Pack 37.3 percent to 32.1 percent, and scored 27 points off of three-pointers to Madison's six. The Chaparrals also outscored the 'Pack per possession (.98 to .80), outrebounded Madison (50 to 43), and dominated almost every statistical battle. Although they lost the game, Madison College was able to keep up their hot shooting from the line. Madison College scored 28 points at the charity stripe and shot 71.7 percent.
 
Three players reached double-digits for the 'Pack despite the loss. Courtney Spangler led the team with 21 points on 8-of-17 shooting from the field. She also hauled down 13 rebounds (8 offensive) for her twelfth double-double of the year. Point guard Calli Dahl was next on the team with 15 points, with 13 of those points coming on 14 free throw attempts. She also led the team with four assists. Taylor Pfeuti (14 points) was the third member of the 'Pack to reach double-figures, and Ellyn Hayden hauled down 10 rebounds in the loss.

The Madison College women's basketball team is off until Saturday, February 23 when they travel to Palatine, IL for their final regular season game. The game, starting at 1:00 PM against the Harper College Hawks, is also the final N4C game of the 2012-13 season for the WolfPack.
