WolfPack Men’s Basketball Falls Short

Box Score It looked like their night. The Madison College men's basketball team jumped out to a seven point first half lead (34 to 27) over the College of DuPage Chaparrals, but the WolfPack couldn't hold off the host team's second half rally and lost to the Chaparrals 65 to 62 in River Grove, IL.

Madison College absolutely shot lights out from the field (52%) in the opening frame and used their 13-of-26 shooting, including 6-of-11 shooting from beyond the arc to take the commanding seven point halftime lead. Despite DuPage almost matching the 'Pack in shooting from the field (50%), Madison's 15 point advantage in points beyond the arc proved to be the first half difference. DuPage made the proper adjustments at the half and Madison's hot shooting went by the wayside as the Chaparrals limited the 'Pack to 37.9 percent shooting from the field, to their 40 percent. DuPage's major advantage in the game was their effective free throw shooting. The host team outscored the 'Pack by 12 points in the game, even though they only managed to shoot 57.1 percent.

Dominic Fumbanks led the team in scoring with 22 points. Fumbanks knocked down four three-point shots, and tied Corey McGowan in the triples category. McGowan was third on the team with 14 points, with 12 coming on the aforementioned three-point shots, and Jason Miller finished second on the team with 16 points. Miller knocked down 7-of-8 field goals shots, and led the team with five rebounds. Point guard Ryan Plaice led the team with seven assists and hauled down three rebounds.

The 5-24 WolfPack has one last regular season game on Saturday, February 23 in Palatine, IL. Madison College faces N4C opponent Harper College at 3:00 PM.
