#1 Ranked Rock Valley Routs WolfPack Women

Box Score The Madison College women's basketball team was no match for the Rock Valley Golden Eagles, as the visitors took a commanding first half lead (38 to 21) and held on for the N4C conference win in Madison, WI on Saturday evening. Rock Valley upended the 'Pack 68 to 46 to drop the WolfPack's record to 13-15 overall and 8-5 in the N4C. To the 'Pack's defense, Rock Valley entered the game 25-2 overall and 11-0 in the N4C, as well as being ranked #1 in the latest NJCAA DIII women's college basketball. After defeating the WolfPack, Rock Valley picked up their 26th win, swept the N4C (12-0), and won their 21st straight game.

Despite the 22 point loss, Madison did show signs of improvement. In their last meeting on January 23, Rock Valley destroyed the 'Pack 107 to 47, but the host WolfPack gave it their best this time around. Madison College did fall behind by 17 points in the first half while only shooting 19.2 percent from the field to Rock Valley's 38.5 percent. Turnovers and sloppiness doomed the 'Pack in the first half, and in the game. Madison committed 13 first half turnovers and Rock Valley scored 15 points off of turnovers to Madison's two. Though Madison did improve upon their second half field goal shooting (27.3%), they committed 13 more turnovers for 26 total compared to the Golden Eagles' 14. Rock Valley once again bested the 'Pack in points off of turnovers 10 to zero in the second frame and 25 to two overall. On the positive side, the WolfPack kept up there hot shooting from the charity stripe. Madison knocked down 25 of their 30 free throw shots for an 83.3 percent clip.

Taylor Pfeuti and Calli Dahl both reached double figure points for the WolfPack. Pfeuti led the team with 18 points on 4-of-10 shooting from the field while hitting all 10 of her free throws. Pfeuti also hauled down six rebounds. Calli Dahl was next on the team with 12 points. She knocked down 6-of-8 free throws while leading the team with seven rebounds and two assists.

Madison is winding down their regular season and has only two games left before the NJCAA Region Quarterfinals in Madison, WI on Tuesday, February 20. Madison College travels to River Grove, IL to play the College of DuPage Chaparrals with a start time of 5:00pm. The Wednesday, February 20 game has been moved from Glen Ellyn, IL to River Grove, IL, home of the Triton College Trojans. After that, Madison heads to Palatine, IL for a game against Harper College before hosting the NJCAA Region IV Quartfinal game in late February.
