Box Score 2 The Madison College men's basketball team headed down to Arizona in hopes of snapping a two-game skid. Unfortunately, they were handed another pair of losses on the winter trip.
Opening up against Scottsdale Community College, the WolfPack had an extremely hard time getting anything going. The Fighting Artichokes outscored Madison College 53-25 in the opening half. The 'Pack shot made just nine of 37 field goal attempts in the opening 20 minutes.
Madison College did show some toughness though, outscoring Scottsdale 39-38 after halftime.
Nathan Scheeter and
Brandon Holz led the WolfPack offensively, scoring 15 and 14 points, respectively. The final tally read 91-64 Scottsdale Community College.
Competing against the Chandler-Gilbert Community College Coyotes in game two, another NJCAA Division II school, Madison College again got off to a slow start, hitting just eight of their 36 field goal attempts. However, they managed to be back just three points after the first stanza.
Once more, the WolfPack would play better in the second, outscoring the Coyotes 32-29 to force overtime. However, despite putting up two more shots in bonus time, Madison College couldn't pull out the win, falling by the final of 67-63.
Corey McGowan would pace the 'Pack with 17 points, while
Brandon Holz added 12.
Madison College, 2-9 overall, will return home Saturday, Jan. 4 for a game against Kishwaukee College at 3 p.m. The WolfPack is 2-1 at home so far this season.
