Women's basketball kicks off season with one win, one loss

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

The Madison College women's volleyball team began their season with both a victory and a defeat. They played two games this weekend, one on Friday and one on Saturday.

The WolfPack faced off against Gogebic Community College in the first game. They hit the ground running in the first half, pulling ahead with a score of 47-26. They never relenquished their hold on the lead: the final score was 78-65. Gabrielle Hood contributed 18 of those points, also racking up two rebounds, two assists, and three steals. Also leading the way for Madison College was Nicole Hoffmann, who, aside from scoring 10 points, pulled off four rebounds, two assists, and one steal. The team tallied an impressive 58% field goal percentage.

The second game did not go quite as smoothly as the first. On Saturday, the WolfPack took on Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The score at halftime had Anoka-Ramsey leading Madison College 38-32. Unfortunately, Madison College failed to close the gap before time was up, and the final score was 70-55 Anoka-Ramsey.

After this weekend, Madison College's overall record sits at 1-1. They will hit the court again on Wednesday, Nov. 11 in Dixon, Ill. to face Sauk Valley Community College.
