Box Score The Rock Valley Golden Eagles showed why they were ranked #2 by the NJCAA in Wednesday's game against the WolfPack, defeating the visiting 'Pack handily, 107 to 47. The big loss ended Madison College's stretch of two straight wins, highlighted by four wins in their last five games. The 'Pack is 8-12 overall and 3-2 in the N4C.
The Golden Eagles didn't waste any time and dominated the first half, taking a commanding 51 to 22 halftime lead over Madison College. The WolfPack offense, or defense, didn't improve much and Rock Valley used a 56 to 25 second half advantage for the 60 point, lopsided win. The defending NJCAA National Champion Golden Eagles dominated nearly every in-game statistical matchup, including forcing 33 WolfPack turnovers while scoring 31 points off of turnovers to the WolfPack's four points. Rock Valley also outrebounded the 'Pack (48 to 28), scored 25 second chance points to Madison's six, and the Golden Eagles received more support off of the bench (46 points to 12).
Calli Dahl,
Courtney Spangler, and
Ellyn Hayden provided the 'Pack with a few statistical highlights. Dahl led the team in scoring with 12 points (all 12 on free throws), five rebounds, and a team leading four assists. Spangler finished with 10 points and tied for the team lead in rebounding with
Ellyn Hayden. The duo each grabbed six rebounds, and Hayden chipped in seven points and two steals.
The 8-12 'Pack have a chance to get the sour taste out of their mouths at home this Saturday. The 'Pack hosts the College of DuPage Chaparrals on January 26 at 1:00 PM in the H. Douglas Redsten Gym. The Chaparrals are 12-6 overall and 4-1 in the N4C.
