They may have started their season without a single sub, but that doesn't mean the Madison College soccer team can't compete with the best of 'em. Visiting Waubonsee on Saturday, a division-one opponent, the WolfPack played the Chiefs to a first-half draw, prior to falling 3-0.
Freshman goalie
Ian Murphy would keep Waubonsee off the scoreboard until the 55th minute. Murphy, a freshman from Madison Edgewood High School, made 11 saves on the afternoon. The Chiefs, probably frustrated by the WolfPack's perseverance, were called for 14 fouls in the contest.
Waubonsee would pull away late, getting two goals from Cesar Garcia (54:57, 62:34), and another by Alex Quintana (86:32). The Chiefs took 23 shots, nine on goal, while the WolfPack had just three.
Madison College (0-1) will compete in their home opener on Wednesday, August 29. The 'Pack play host to in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College at 4:00 PM.
