The WolfPack Women's Basketball team's four game win streak came to an end at home tonight as the visiting Joliet Junior College Wolves proved to be too much to handle down the stretch. The Wolves outscored Madison College 38-10 over the final ten minutes to claim a 88-72 win.
Madison College jumped out a 43-37 halftime lead on 18-for-38 shooting (47%) and a pair of 13 point scoring halfs from
Kinsey Mace and Threisa Elskamp. Despite the lead the WolfPack struggled defensively, giving up easy shots resulting in the visiting Wolves shooting over 55 percent.
The WolfPack led by 12 points with a little under ten minutes to play and saw the lead gradually disappear as the Wolves rattled off a 38-10 run to close out the game. Thirteen second half turnovers combined with defensive struggles allowed the Wolves to shoot almost 60 percent in the half captializing to the tune of 28-17 in points off turnovers. For the WolfPack it is their first loss in the past five game falling by the score of 88-72.
Thresia Elskamp led all WolfPack scorers with 23 points and posted her second double-double of the year with ten rebounds.
Kinsey Mace poured in 22 points on 10-for-16 shooting while teammate
Courtney Spangler added 13 points in the loss.
The WolfPack women fall to 14-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The women have a quick turnaround as they face Loras College JV in Dubuque, IA tomorrow at 7:30 PM.
