In what was one of their most complete games of the season, the Madison College men's basketball team took out visiting College of DuPage at home on Saturday night. Behind
Garrett Borgrud's game-high 24 points, and
Tyler Kowalkowski's near triple-double, the WolfPack picked up the 55-43 win over the Chaparrals.
Most of the first half was a back and forth battle between Madison College and College of Dupage, but with just over seven minutes left the 'Pack went on an 8-0 run to take a 25-17 lead and they never looked back. Hitting 11-of-23 shots in the opening twenty minutes, the WolfPack took a 28-22 lead into the break. The Chaparrals were only able to knock down 9-of-30 from the field (30%).
Garrett Borgrud scored 16 of his 24 points in the half, with five of his baskets coming off of
Tyler Kowalkowski assists.
In the second half, Madison College never relinquished their lead. Despite College of DuPage coming within a few points on numerous occasions, the WolfPack always found a way to hit a big basket when they needed to. With 5:32 left to play the Chaparrals came within one point, 40-39, but the 'Pack would step it up and go on a 7-0 run to help hold off the charge.
Tyler Kowalkowski came within just two assists of a triple-double. The sophomore, who played all 40 minutes, finished with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and eight assists. Kowalkowski also tallied three steals, and two blocks in the game.
