WolfPack Women Can't Get Their Revenge Against Rock Valley

Earlier this season, the Madison College women's basketball team was taken down at home by Rock Valley College 89-69. Wednesday night the WolfPack went into Rockford, IL looking for revenge, but the fourth ranked Golden Eagles proved to be too tough, winning 65-50.

In the first half, both teams struggled to find their rhythm offensively. The 'Pack hit just 7-of-34 from the field (20.6%), while Rock Valley managed to knock down only 11-of-38 shots (28.9%). Still, the result was an eight point Golden Eagles lead at the break.

Both teams picked things up a bit in the second half. Madison College managed to hit 9-of-33 shots (27.3%), and Rock Valley 13-of-33 (39.4%). However, the Golden Eagles flew out to a 42-27 lead and never looked back.

The WolfPack got a great game out of Calli Dahl. Dahl, a sophomore from Deerfield, managed to lead the team with 14 points on 4-of-7 shooting. She also was a big reason why Madison College outscored Rock Valley 21-4 in bench points. They also managed to net 13 points on 14 Golden Eagles turnovers. Unfortunately, the 'Pack starters couldn't match the production of the Golden Eagles top five. Only Courtney Spangler was able to score in double figures for the WolfPack, tallying ten points on 3-of-10 shooting. Rock Valley had four of their starting five finish with ten-plus points. A big reason for that success was the Golden Eagles ability to rebound the basketball, beating Madison College on the glass 60-39.

Madison College (14-9, 4-3) will look to snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday, February 18th when they host College of DuPage. Tip-off is set for 5:00 PM, and the team is hoping their fans can help them "Jam the Gym" and pull out a victory.
