Box Score 2 The Madison College men's basketball team couldn't get off to the right start after losing both games of the Sanford Worthington Regional Hospital Classic this past weekend in Worthington, MN. The WolfPack were defeated in their tournament and season opener in a high-scoring 85 to 112 loss to the Minnesota West CTC Bluejays on Friday night, before being held in check by the Riverland CC Blue Devils in Saturday's 54 to 65 loss.
Three WolfPack reached double-digit points in Friday's loss against Minnesota West, but they were outdone by the five players reaching that mark for the Bluejays.
Dominic Fumbanks paced the WolfPack with a team-high 25 points, and
Lucas Baier (20) and
Alex Wuensch (16) finished right behind the high-scoring guard from Racine. Madison got out-powered by the Bluejays 62-35 in the first half of play, but the defense showed improvement after the break as the two teams both recorded 50 points.
Lucas Baier once again reached the double-digit mark on offense in Sunday's loss to Riverland. The guard from Sauk Prairie, WI led the team with 19 points, while Wuensch also was a high scorer in back-to-back games. Wuensch chipped in 14 points in the loss, while
Sheldon Cooks added 10.
Like the Madison College women's basketball team, the men have less than a week to prepare for two games in Milwaukee, WI as part of the Milwaukee Area Technical College Classic this Friday and Saturday. The 0-2 WolfPack play the Anoka-Ramsey Community College Golden Rams at 4:00 PM before taking on the Gogebic Community College Samsons at 12:00 PM on Saturday.
