Madison College Soccer Picks Up First Win

The WolfPack soccer team is winless no longer. Thanks to Marcos Flores' overtime goal and terrific shutout defense, Madison College picked up their first win of the 2012 season in Wednesday's 1-0 overtime victory over the Harper College Hawks. The win marks Madison College's first since a forfeit victory on October 9 of 2011. With a victory under their belt, the 'Pack improves to 1-10 on the year and 1-5 in N4C play.

Madison College wasn't able to get on the board in either half, but thanks to seven saves from goalkeeper Ian Murphy and great team defense, the game remained deadlocked at the conclusion of regulation play. In overtime, Marcos Flores provided the heroics with a successful penalty kick in sudden death to snap the 'Pack's 13 game losing streak. In a night of firsts, not only does the soccer team pick up its first win since nearly a year ago, coach Sam Ramirez picks up his first win as head coach of the WolfPack. Flores and goalkeeper Ian Murphy also got into the action. Flores scored his first collegiate goal and Murphy earns his first win and shutout as a college athlete.

The Madison College soccer team has a day to enjoy their first victory of the season before playing host to the Triton College Trojans on Friday, October 5. The N4C conference showdown kicks off at 4:00 PM at Reindahl Park in Madison, WI.
