Madison College Soccer Loses Regular Season Finale

In their final regular season game of the 2012 campaign, the Madison College soccer team couldn't hold off the St. Mary's University Cardinals JV as the visiting Cardinals scored three unanswered goals enroute to a 3-1 win over the WolfPack last Saturday.

Ittay Rivas scored his first goal of the season ten minutes into the game before the Cardinals started the comeback. SMU tied the contest at one all 15 minutes after Rivas' score, but the Madison defense kept the St. Mary's attack at bay and both teams went into the break knotted at one. The second half turned out entirely different for the 'Pack as SMU used two quick goals to pull ahead 3-1 as the visitors cruised to the non-conference win.

Other than Rivas' first-half goal, Ian Murphy provided three saves in the two score loss for the 'Pack. The 1-14 WolfPack now start their NJCAA Region IV playoffs with a Region Tournament Quarterfinal game against the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers on Wednesday, October 17 in Milwaukee, WI. MATC-Milwaukee is a familiar foe for the WolfPack as the Stormers defeated Madison College in both meetings this season. Milwaukee edged out Madison 2-1 in the first game, before defeating the 'Pack 8-2 in the second game.
