Just four days removed from their first loss in North Central Community College Conference (N4C) play, the Madison College women's basketball team got back to their winning ways on Wednesday evening. The WolfPack, visiting College of DuPage, used a massive rebounding advantage to take out the Chaparrals 56-47.
The 'Pack got out to a good start in the first half, holding College of DuPage to just 8-of-28 shooting (28.6%), before taking a five point lead into the break. The second half would see more of the same. The Chaparrals shot even worse over the game's last twenty minutes, hitting just 8-of-31 from the field (25.8%). Madison College would make College of DuPage pay for their misses, outrebounding the Chaparrals 57-29.
The WolfPack did struggle a bit protecting the basketball. In 40 minutes the team turned the ball over 23 times. Those turnovers resulted in 14 points for the Chaparrals. Still, Madison College had three players score in double figures.
Kinsey Mace led the team offensively with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Courtney Spangler added a double-double with 12 points and 11 boards, while
Tanya Kaufmann chipped in 11 points and nine rebounds.
Madison College (11-6, 3-1) was supposed to have a home game against Harper College on Saturday, January 28th, but that contest has been cancelled. Instead, the team will suit up against UW-Marathon County on Monday, January 30th. Tip-off time in Wausau is set for 5:00 PM.
