The Madison College men's soccer team looked to pick up their first win of the young season on September 3, but the Prairie State College Pioneers had other ideas on their way to the 7-3 win over the host WolfPack. Madison College pulled within one goal before halftime and trailed 2-3, until the Pioneers put the game away with 4 second half goals to the WolfPacks's one.
Freshman defender Evan Everett got the WolfPack on the board with a goal on an assist by fellow freshman Ali Aamir. Freshman forward Aristote Mbaya scored the second Madison College goal of the half to narrow Prairie State lead to 3-2.
After the intermission, freshmen midfielder Jose Sibaja tied the game at 3-3 with an early second half goal. Freshman midfielder Aamir provided the assist on Sibaja's goal for his second helper of the game. From that point on, the Prairie State Pioneers showed their dominance as they rattled off four second have goals for the convincing 7-3 win.
Sophomore goalie Eric Liegel played all 90 minutes in goal and led the team with nine saves, but allowed seven goals in the process. The WolfPack fell to 0-3 on the year, and are right back at it on Wednesday, September 6. The 'Pack hosts the Milwaukee Area Technical College Stormers at 4:00 PM in their first North Central Community College Conference (N4C) game of the 2011 season.
