Three Goals Not Enough for WolfPack, Soccer Team Falls to Joliet

Despite tying their season-high for goals in a single game this year with three, the Madison College soccer team couldn't pull off the upset win over Joliet Junior College Wednesday afternoon. The Wolfpack would allow the Wolves 26 shots on goal en route to a 10-3 loss.

Joliet surged out to a big lead in the first half, scoring the first four goals of the game. Gustavo Moreno started the scoring for the Wolves, beating Eric Liegel at 6:44. Moreno's strike was followed up by two goals from Alvaro Zavala at 14:54, and 34:52. Less than two minutes later, Miguel Abarca would put a fourth ball past Liegel. All four of the Joliet goals were unassisted. The 'Pack would finish the half on a strong note as Kyle Hamilton put Madison College on the board at 44:49, beating Richard Wyskiel.

Unfortunately, the second half was even worse for the WolfPack. Joliet Junior College came out of the halftime break on fire, scoring six unanswered goals before Nick Nelson could stop the assault. Hamilton would score again for the WolfPack prior to the end of the game, at 87:23, but it was far too late.

Madison College (0-11) now has six games left in the regular season. Next up, the WolfPack will take on in-state rival Milwaukee Area Technical College tomorrow, September 30th, at 4:00PM.
