To start their season the Madison College soccer team fell to Triton College 8-1. Friday afternoon, in a rematch with the Trojans, the WolfPack played Triton extremely tough in falling just 3-0. The loss, while still tough to take, shows just how far the 'Pack has come this season.
The first half was a back and forth affair, with no goals being scored until the 37th minute. At 36:07 Jakub Gurgul put one past Madison goalie
Eric Liegel, giving the Trojans a 1-0 lead which they would carry into the halftime break.
Encouraged by their play in the first, the WolfPack would continue to challenge Triton. Still, goals at 49:26, and 63:26 by Dimitrios Floros and Mohammad Al-An would give the Trojans some extra breathing room. Never a team to quit, Madison College would get some late chances including a
Jesus Tinoco header attempt, and a
Trevor Cervenka shot that required a great Triton save. For the game the 'Pack had just four shots on goal to Triton's 14.
Eric Liegel made nine saves, and the team had 17 fouls.
Madison College (0-9) will travel to the College of Lake County on Sunday, September 25th for a 12:00PM showdown with the Lancers.
