WolfPack Soccer Team Plays Harper Hawks Tough

In what was indeed one of their best performances of the season, the Madison College soccer team narrowly fell to the Harper College Hawks on Wednesday. After falling behind 2-1 at the conclusion of the first half, the WolfPack rallied to tie things at two prior to falling by the final of 3-2.

The Hawks jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first half, beating goalkeeper Eric Liegel in the 18th minute. However, in the 30th minute it was Pierro Alegria answering for the 'Pack after an assist from Aristote Mbaya. The game would stay even until Harper found the back of the net once more in the 34th minute. The half would end with Harper up 2-1.

In the second half the WolfPack would continue to attack, and it finally paid off in the form of a Kyle Hamilton goal. At the 81:42 mark Hamilton would put one past the Hawks' goalkeeper, with Isaac Dahl tallying the assist. However, just when it was looking like Madison College could force overtime the Hawks ended things. Harper got the final goal of the game in the 89th minute.

Sophomore netminder Eric Liegel finished the game with ten saves, but once again he faced an enormous amount of shots on goal. For the game Harper put 14 balls on net, to just four for the WolfPack. Next up, Madison College (0-8) will host Triton College on Friday, September 23rd at 4:00 PM. The game will be a rematch from an earlier season meeting which saw the Trojans knock off the 'Pack 8-1.
