They put up a heck of a fight Wednesday afternoon, but the WolfPack women's basketball team fell just short in their quest to knock off division two Glendale Community College. Madison College lost their opening game in the Bill Culver Memorial Classic 70-59.

In the first half, the WolfPack was the better team. They outscored their opponent 30-28. The 'Pack shot 37.1% from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, holding Glendale to a 30% clip. However, in the second Madison College would cool off. The WolfPack hit just 7-of-42 shots from the floor (16.7%), while allowing the Gauchos to knock down 16-of-33 shots (48.5%). Kinsey Mace led the WolfPack offensively with 15 points. Tanya Kaufmann, and Thresia Elskamp added 12 and 11 points respectively. Kaufmann would also add 12 rebounds for a double-double.Madison College forced 17 Glendale turnovers, but gave up the ball 24 times.

Madison College (7-3) will play their second of three games in the Bill Culver Memorial Classic tomorrow afternoon. The 'Pack will look to rebound by picking up a victory over Phoenix College, another division two opponent, at 11:45.
