The Madison College women's basketball team is off to a sizzling hot start. Playing in the Worthington Regional Hospital Classic, the WolfPack showed how strong they could potentially be this season, beating Minnesota West Community & Technical College and Riverland Community College.
In Friday's season opener, Madison dumped 45 points on Minnesota West, giving them a 19 point halftime lead. After the break it was more of the same from the WolfPack. Madison added 44 more points in the second half, to their opponent's 31, to win in a route 89-57.
Kinsey Mace scored a game-high 22 points, while also adding six rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Sophomore
Thresia Elskamp added 12 points for the 'Pack, along with four rebounds and three steals.
Feeling good after their tournament opening win, Madison carried over their success into game two on Saturday. The team used a strong second half, outscoring the Blue Devils 42-33, to pick up the 79-65 victory.
Thresia Elskamp showed off her skills once more, tallying a game-high 25 points, eight rebounds, seven steals, four assists, and two blocks.
Courtney Spangler had a nice game as well, adding ten points and six rebounds.
Madison College (2-0, 0-0) will compete in their home opener against Gogebic Community College Friday, November 11th at 5:30 PM. The game at H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium will be Parent's Night. The WolfPack men will host Gogebic C.C. immediately after, with tip time set for approximately 7:30 PM.
