They lost two games by a combined eight points, but close only counts in horseshoes. After their season opening tournament in Minnesota the WolfPack men's basketball team finds themselves at 0-2. Madison College's losses came at the hands of Minnesota West Community & Technical College and Riverland Community College.
In their opener, against Minnesota West, Madison College played the Bluejays tough. After shooting 43% from the field in the first half, the team found themselves trailing by only six points entering the break. Despite allowing Minnesota West to hit at a 60% clip in the second half, the 'Pack actually outscored the Bluejays 39-38. However, it wasn't enough as the team fell 79-74.
Tyler Kowalkowski tallied 19 points in the losing effort.
Jordan Van Cleave added 17, while
Alex Cook came up with 12.
Madison's second contest, which came on Saturday against Riverland Community College, was even closer. The two teams were deadlocked at 24-all when the halftime horn sounded. Unfortunately, Madison was outscored 29-26 by the Blue Devils in the second half. For the game, the 'Pack shot just 36% from the field, but held Riverland to an even worse percentage (34%).
Darius Norris came up with 19 points for the WolfPack, and
Nathan Thomas chipped in with 11.
Madison College (0-2, 0-0) will look to get their first win of the season Friday, November 11th at 7:30 PM when they host Gogebic Community College on Parent's Night.
