The Madison College women's basketball team was cruising, three games into the season they were unbeaten, but that came to a more than convincing end on Tuesday night. Visiting Sauk Valley Community College, the WolfPack was beaten up by the unblemished Skyhawks 80-44.
In the opening half the 'Pack managed to knock down just 6-of-31 total field goal attempts (19.4%). Meanwhile, Sauk Valley could not be stopped. The Skyhawks hit 16-of-34 shots in the first, good for a 47.1% mark, including 6-of-15 from beyond the arc (40%). Madison College trailed 41-22 entering halftime.
The second half was almost a carbon copy of the first. The WolfPack hit 9-of-36 field goal attempts (25%), while the Skyhawks made 15-of-30 (50%). Madison College was outscored 39-22 after the halftime break.
Kinsey Mace and
Thresia Elskamp led what little offense the WolfPack was able to muster up. Elskamp was the team's leading scorer with 14 points on 5-of-18 shooting, while Mace chipped in 13 points by hitting 5-of-13 shots.
