The #3 nationally ranked Madison College Women's Basketball team advanced to the NJCAA Division III National Tournament for the third straight season with a 62-58 win over Milwaukee Area Technical College in the NJCAA Region IV Championship in Joliet, IL.
The WolfPack led 32-31 going into halftime, after trailing by as many as eight points in the first half. In the second half, Madison College did what they needed to do to get the win as former Potosi high school standouts, Morgan Lass (Potosi, WI, Potosi) and Thresia Elskamp (Potosi, WI, Potosi ) each had 12 points and grabbed seven and six rebounds, respectively. Gabi Hungerford (Wild Rose, WI, Wild Rose ) was one rebound shy of a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds while point guard, Mya Flentje (Baraboo, WI, Baraboo ), pitched in with 10 points. The WolfPack were 10-for-11 from the free throw line and outscored the Stormers 17-0 in bench points.
Madison College advanced to the national tournament for the third consecutive year and the fifth time in the last six years. The WolfPack were national runners-up last season and this year's national championship will be held in Rochester, MN, on March 11-13.
