In a game that fetaured nine lead changes, the WolfPack men's basketball team came up on the wrong end of the final lead change in a 82-69 loss to Highland Community College in Freeport, Ill.
The WolfPack (2-4) held a 38-36 advantage at halftime, but their shooting cooled off in the second half and the Cougars stepped up their game to hang on for the win. The Wolfpack offense slipped from 45 percent shooting in the first half to 30 percent in the second half.
The offense was lead by
Aaron Jones and his 22 points. He also pulled down seven rebounds in the contest. He had a busy day at the charity stripe, hitting 10-of-11 free throw attempts. The WolfPack's big man,
Garrett Borgrud, also contributed with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Jordan Van Cleave was held scoreless by the Cougars, but put in four assists and 10 rebounds for the WolfPack.
The biggest difference in the game was the points in the paint and second-effort points. The WolfPack were outscored 32-16 in the paint and were held to just six second-effort points compared to 23 by the Cougars.
There were no scheduled games over Thanksgiving weekend for the WolfPack who return home to Madison on Nov. 30 against UW-Marathon at 7:30 p.m.
