Three 1st Half Goals Propel WolfPack Victory

Jody LaReau scored one goal and one assist in a 3-0 WolfPack win over Waubonsee CC.
In their first game during the month of October, Madison College netted three first half goals and shutout Waubonsee Community College in a 3-0 win in Madison. The win snapped a four-game losing streak in the WolfPack's most impressive and complete performance this season.

The WolfPack jumped out to an early lead on a Jody LaReau goal 7:40 into the game. For the second-straight game LaReau scored a goal, moving his team-high total for the season to three. The goal was assisted by newcomer Jesus Torres.

Just one game after recording his first assist of the season, Mike Pane scored the second goal of the game for the WolfPack on a Kyle Weisinger assist. The score by Pane gave the WolfPack their first multi-goal game of the season, but the WolfPack did not stop at two. LaReau got back in the scoring action by assisting a Jacob Gast goal just minutes before halftime (41:43).

The three-goal performance by the WolfPack in the first half gave new life to a WolfPack offense that entered the month of October with just six goals in 12 games. The defense and goalie Eric Liegel also put in their best performance of the season as the WolfPack recorded their first shutout on the year. Liegel saved all seven shots that the Chiefs sent his way in the first shutout of his young career.

After tying the Chiefs earlier this year 1-1 in Sugar Grove, Ill. the WolfPack took the rubber match in Madison on Oct. 2 during the second game of a four-game homestand. The WolfPack next play on Oct. 8 at 4 p.m. against Milwaukee Area Technical College. When the two teams last met on Sept. 8 in MIlwaukee, the Stormers took down the WolfPack 4-1.
