Kegler is entering his second year as the Madison College head men's basketball coach after being hired in August 2016. Kegler spent the previous four seasons as an assistant coach under Scot Vesterdahl. He also serves as Facilities Coordinator for the Madison College Athletics Department. In his inagural season as head coach, his WolfPack went 20-10, put together a season-high seven game winning streak, and lost in the Region IV Tournament Semfinals by two points.
Kegler brings leadership, good communication skills, and a solid work ethic to the nen's basketball program. He has experience coaching basketball as a camp coach at the University of Minnesota (2007 & 2009) and at Marquette University (2009).
Prior to coaching, Kegler played on the UW-La Crosse men's basketball team from 2004-2008 as a forward. He participated in one of their most successful seasons in 20 years. He served as team captain his senior season, and organized pre-season conditioning and strength training sessions for the team. In addition to these accomplishments, Kegler also was a recipient of the UW-La Crosse Men's Basketball Dedication and Team Unity Award, and was nominated to the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Conference All-Sportsmanship Team.
The Waterloo, Wisconsin, native graduated from UW-La Crosse with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science with a major in Sport Management (2008), and earned his Masters of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism at the University of Illinois Global Campus (2011).
Kegler was also the General Manager at JustAgame Fieldhouse in Wisconsin Dells, where he led the day-to-day operations. In addition, he served as the director of the JustAgame Select AAU Basketball program and the lead skills instructor for all camps and skill development.
He and his wife Nya, who played college basketball at UW-Whitewater, live in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.
