Makailah Dyer is entering her first season as an assistant coach for the Madison College women's basketball team after being hired in August 2025. She is the daughter of Michael Dyer, who coached the Madison College men's (1989-91) and women's (1986-89) basketball teams.
Makailah brings collegiate basketball coaching and playing experience to the WolfPack after spending two seasons at nearby NCAA Division III Edgewood College from 2022-2024. She also served as an assistant girls basketball coach at her alma mater, Madison East High School, during the 2017-18 season.
During her playing days, Makailah starred at NCAA Division I University of North Dakota, where she amassed 1,466 points, 434 rebounds, and 313 assists as a shooting guard. She twice helped the Fighting Hawks win Big Sky Conference championships, was a two-time All-Big Sky Conference recipient (first team as a senior and second team as a junior), and was selected the Big Sky Scholar Athlete of the Year as a senior. She has earned bachelor's and Master's degrees in Kinesiology.
As a prep player, Makailah was a two-time WBCA All-State selection and a four-time All-Big Eight Conference pick for the Purgolders. She averaged 24.6 points per game as a senior guard.
Away from basketball, Makailah is in her third year working at Individual Skill Development and Enhancement (ISDE) in Madison
