Driss Amara is entering his first season as an assistant coach with the Madison College men's basketball team after being hired in May 2025.
Driss has spent the previous six years helping the boys and girls basketball programs as his alma mater, Madison East High School. After serving as an assistant coach for the girls program from 2019 to 2022, he shifted over to the boys program from 2022 to 2025. During that time, Driss worked closely with and helped develop several all-conference players. He also spent time as an assistant coach for the Purgolders football team. Driss began his coaching career working with high school football and basketball teams in the Washington D.C. area.
As a prep, Driss was a three-sport athlete at Madison East, participating in basketball, football, and track & field. Following high school, he attended Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minnesota, and earned his bachelor's degree in Human Services in 2015. Driss continued his education at Howard University in Washington D.C., where he received his Master's of Social Work in 2018. In 2024, he earned a Master's of Business Administration at UW-Madison.
Driss currently lives in Madison and works as a program manager. In his free time, he enjoys photography, traveling, fashion, reading, collecting sneakers, and promoting mental health awareness.
