Jim Thomas is in his first season as the Madison Area Technical College head golf coach. In addition to coaching MATC Golf, Thomas is currently general manager and head golf professional at The Bridges Golf Course. He is also the head boys golf coach at Madison Edgewood High School.
Coach Thomas’s philosophy of teaching players to play within themselves by playing smart golf and managing the course helped his Madison Edgewood High School team become the 2001 Badger Conference Champions, 2001 WIAA Division II Runner-ups, and the 2000?WISAA State Champions in just two years.
Coach Thomas was a three-time state tournament qualifier in golf for L.P. Goodrich High School. He turned pro before his freshman year at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. After college he became head golf professional at Minocqua Country Club at only 23 years old.
Thomas was born on August 28, 1965 in Fond du Lac, WI. He received his B.S. degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1988. His wife’s name is Susan and they have four children, Jordyn, Brady, Alexis, and Chandon.
