MILWAUKEE, WISC. - Thursday was not the WolfPack's day. The Madison College softball team dropped both games of a doubleheader against in-state rival and Region 4 foe Bryant & Stratton College, ending a three-game win streak. Bobcats pitcher Sydney Birling tossed a no-hitter in a 6-0 contest in the day's opener, and BSC run-ruled the 'Pack by an 11-3 tally in six innings in the nightcap. The two losses bring the all-time series record to 8-3 in favor of Madison College, while Bryant & Stratton College has now won three straight.
Game #1: Bryant & Stratton College 6, Madison College 0
Stirling was the main storyline with a pitching effort that including 20 strikeouts against 23 batters faced, which included Ks of the first eight batters. The only Madison College batters to reach base were
Taylor VonBehren on a dropped third strike in the third inning and
Ellie Rademacher with a leadoff walk in the fifth.
The game was scoreless into the fourth inning, as Madison College starter
Casey Fountain attempted to stay pitch-for-pitch with Birling, however, the Bobcats broke through with a solo home run in the bottom half. After adding another run in the fifth, BSC busted the game open with a four-run sixth inning.
Fountain (5-2) allowed five earned runs on seven hits and five walks in her six innings of work. The right-hander did strike out five.
Game #2: Bryant & Stratton College 11, Madison College 3 (6 innings)
Madison College was unable to stem the tied going into the second game, which saw Bryant & Stratton College (19-7) take a 4-0 lead in the second inning against starter
Mallory Sterling. The WolfPack fought back with two runs in the third when left fielderÂ
Maddie Kvatek followed
Brianna Brandner's single with a home run to right field. Trailing 5-2 in the fourth thanks to a
Sophie Rivera run-scoring triple. That's as close as the score would get with BSC plating two runs in the fourth, one in the fifth, and three in the sixth to earn a walk-off, run-rule win to sweep the doubleheader.
Sterling (3-2) was credited with nine earned runs in her 5.1 innings in the circle. She allowed 13 hits, issued two walks, and struck out a pair.
Kvatek, a native of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, bashed her first home run of the season and fifth of her career. She finished with two hits, two RBI, and a run scored. Third baseman
Trista Ripp went 2 for 3 with a run scored.

Madison College (13-7) travels to McHenry County College (2-6) on Friday for a Region 4 doubleheader in Crystal Lake, Illinois. The WolfPack has taken seven straight from the Scots, and boast an 11-7 all-time record in the head-to-head series.
