MADISON, WISC. - The final regular season home game of the season at
Robert D. Goodman Softball Field brought with it some memorable moments as the program said good bye to the 11 second year players, who will leave as the winningest class in school history. The two run-rule wins of 10-0 and 14-3 over Black Hawk College-Moline in front of "Youth Day at The Park" attendees brought the #9 WolfPack's current win streak to an even 20 games.
Game #1: #9 Madison College 10, Black Hawk College-Moline 0 (5 innings)
The highly-ranked WolfPack established themselves as the better team right from the get-go, scoring four runs in the first inning. Freshman
Hannah Grahl powered her second career home run beyond the left field wall to make it 2-0, and fellow first year
Dany Gumz followed with a two-run double four batters later. The lead grew to 6-0 in the second and then to 10-0 in the third. Sophomore
Ashley Kniesel opened the inning with a solo blast to left for her second home run in as many games. The scoring ended after back-to-back doubles from
Claire Brzenk and Grahl.
Six different WolfPack players recorded two hits in the game, including the six through nine hitters, who combined to go 8 for 12 with three RBI and five runs scored. Brzenk, a sophomore from Pewaukee, Wisconsin, was 2 for 3, drove in three runs, and scored twice. Grahl also brought home three runs on her two hits and scored one more.
Sophomore
Emily Wiederholt (9-3) added four more innings to her consecutive scoreless innings streak, which stands at 25 2/3 innings. She allowed three hits and struck out five Braves. During her impressive run of six straight wins, Wiederholt has given up just 11 hits and registered 31 K's. Fellow second year,
Mackenzie Terrill, tossed a scoreless fifth inning in relief.
Game #2: #9 Madison College 14, Black Hawk College-Moline 3 (5 innings)
After falling behind 1-0 in the first half inning, Madison College (42-7) answered in a major way with their largest scoring inning of the season, putting up a dozen runs in the bottom half. Seventeen batters came to the plate, including nine before the first out was recorded. The WolfPack racked up ten singles, one double, two hit batters, and took advantage of four Black Hawk College-Moline (9-20). They would added additional runs in the second and fourth innings.
Freshman
Nicole Ferch, one of seven players with multiple hits, was the only batter to record three base knocks. The Cudahy, Wisconsin, native, drove in a career-best four runs.
Hannah Grahl was the only player to have two runs scored and two batted in.
Second year arm
