SEASON PREVIEW: 2025 Madison College WolfPack Women's Volleyball

The Madison College women's volleyball team is eyeing a transition of sorts as it prepares to embark on the 2025 season. Fourth year head coach Mallory Stone saw two of the program's all-time best hitters leave the gym due to graduation, and now touts a more balanced roster with some added depth. The WolfPack have averaged 20-plus wins a season under Stone, and this year's squad hopes to gain another chance at the Region 4 title that has slipped through its grasp in recent years.

“Madison College volleyball returns this season, hoping to be a strong ball control team, with consistent serve receive and defense, allowing us to run a balanced, unpredictable offense. We have depth across all positions and the ability to attack from multiple angles and give a variety of looks offensively. Our goals include competing for a region title, making a deep postseason run, and continuing to build a competitive, team-first culture. With a lot of new players, there is always the challenge of getting everyone on the same page in such a short amount of time; however, with great leadership, we hope we can be efficient in this realm."

Returners

The WolfPack lost a pair of all-region players in Courtney Gorum and Addyson McHugh, a duo that finished their careers ranking first and tied for third, respectively, in career kills. Back is a quartet of players who all contributed during the 2024 campaign. Middle blocker/right side hitter Kate Howe played the most sets last year of the four returners, and posted 58 kills and 24.0 blocks. Setters Tricia Klum and Sammy Johnson combined for nearly 600 assists as freshman, with Klum averaging 5.41 per set and Johnson at 3.63. Klum is also the top server coming back after dropping in 25 aces last fall. Defensive specialist/libero Cora Webster was second on the team last season with 274 digs and boasted an .885 receiving percentage.

“We've seen a lot of growth from our returners over the course of the spring and they are excited to take on bigger roles both on the court and as leaders within our program.”

Newcomers

The WolfPack welcomes in eight new faces for 2025, including two sophomores and six true freshmen. Outside hitter Ella Vosberg (Cuba City, WI) and defensive specialist/libero Sam Schultz (Oconomowoc, WI) were both part of WIAA State Tournament teams during their prep careers, while outside hitter Rowan Harder (Waupun, WI) was part of WIAA championship teams in basketball and softball. Fellow outside hitter Makayla Dallas (Valders, WI) was the Eastern Wisconsin Conference Player of the Year and a WVCA Honorable Mention All-State selection. The talented group also includes libero/defensive specialist Avery Agnew, setter Allie Andrews (Darlington, WI), and middle blocker Caylee Coggins.

“Our incoming class of 2025 brings a lot of talent from across the state and beyond. With multiple All-State selections and state qualifiers throughout their high school careers, we expect this class to up the level of our gym significantly with their play from day one. We are excited to see this team together in one place working to achieve great things!”
