SEASON PREVIEW: 2025-26 Madison College WolfPack Golf

Head coach Chris Soulier now has a full season of collegiate golf and recruiting under his belt, and he's hoping that will help translate into continued progress for the Madison College golf team. The team returns of its top four players from last season, while also welcoming in a strong freshman class and some new assistant coaches to take on a challenging new-look schedule in 2025-26.

“The team has solid leadership and returning experience, which will be key for our young team of newcomers. Our goal is to have a successful fall in the win/loss column, be a competitive presence in Region 4, and become a tight nit team on-and-off the course. The lack of collegiate golf experience could be a challenge, but we are confident this will be over shadowed with solid leadership from our returners.”

Returners

The WolfPack only returns two players off the 2024-25 roster, as sophomores Matthew Haggart and Brady Piazza carry scoring averages of 80.3 and 81.5, respectively, from their debut seasons. Haggart, who earned Third Team All-Region 4 and narrowly missed the national tournament, enjoyed a successful summer season, qualifying for the Wisconsin State Open. The experience-rich duo has shown the capability to put together some terrific rounds, with Haggart owning five scores of 76 or better and Piazza turning in two such scores.

“Brady Piazza and Matthew Haggart are our top returners. Both bring back strong leadership qualities and great work ethic on-and-off the course, as well as a thirst to get better. We are expecting great things from our young team with Brady and Matthew at the helm.”

Newcomers

The class of newcomers includes Gavin Davidson (Spring Green, WI), Mitch Hackel (Cottage Grove, WI), Kellan Jacobson (Fort Atkinson, WI), Micah Lenway (Faribault, MN), Parker Morrow (Faribault, MN), and Jacob Schmeltzer (Merrill, WI). Jacobson was ranked #35 in his class by Wisconsin.golf, while Lenway and Morrow enjoyed success competing together on the same high school team. The program also saw a pair of new additions on the coaching staff, as Soulier added his daughter, Samantha Soulier, and nephew, Sam Anhalt, to the staff. Both recently wrapped up their collegiate golf careers.

“We are expecting great things from our newcomers. All have fantastic demeanors on-and-off the course, showing great projectability for a competitive team.”

Schedule

The 2025-26 schedule starts with a familiar challenge at the Culver's-Edgewood University Classic in Janesville, in late-August. Three new events for the fall slate include a pair of tournaments hosted by NCAA Division II programs with the Maverick Fall Brawl (Minnesota State University-Mankato) at Troy Burne Golf Club in Hudson, Wisconsin, and the Kohler Collegiate Classic (UW-Parkside) at Whistling Straits. In between those will be the inaugural WolfPack Challenge, a one-day, 18-hole event at The Oaks Golf Club in Cottage Grove. The Spring 2026 portion will be announced during the winter, with the culmination being a potential trip to the NJCAA Division II National Tournament at Swan Lake Resort in Plymouth, Indiana.
