WolfPack golfer Evan Wartgow, 2013 Volleyball Champs inducted to Region IV Hall of Fame

Impressive performances on national stage a common thread in Class of 2018

The NJCAA Region IV Hall of Fame announced its Class of 2018 Inductees and it includes one former student-athlete and one national championship team from Madison College. Golfer Evan Wartgow and the 2013 NJCAA Division III Championship women's volleyball team will represent Madison College as part of the 11-member enshrinement class.

Evan Wartgow turned in one of the most impressive single seasons in the history of Madison College golf in 2010. Following a freshman season in which Wartgow earned six top-five finishes and was named to the All-Region IV team, the Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, native dominated the fall schedule. Wartgow led the WolfPack to three team titles and was meet medalist on five different occasions, the last of which was the Region IV Tournament. His 18-hole score of five-under-par 67 to win the WolfPack Invitational at The Bridges Golf Course stands as the second lowest round in program history. In the summer of 2011, Wartgow finished national runner-up after posting rounds of 74-72-76-76 at the NJCAA Division III Men's Golf National Championship at Chautauqua Golf Club in New York. His 298 total was one stroke back of the national champion. Wartgow ended his career with the third lowest career scoring average in Madison College history at 76.5.

The 2013 Madison College volleyball team began a run of success by claiming the first of back-to-back NJCAA Division III Volleyball National Championships. Head coach Toby Parker and the WolfPack went 34-3 and won their first ever Region IV title to earn the program's second national tournament appearance. In Rochester, Minnesota, the 'Pack swept all three matches, including a 25-22, 22-19, and 25-22 defeat of Ridgewater College (MN) to claim the program's first national title. Sophomore Terissa Bierd was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player and was one of five Madison College players selected to the All-Tournament Team. Sophomores Vanessa Clarson and Elizabeth Mahsem received first team All-American honors, while sophomore Payton Klein was a second team honoree. The trio was joined by sophomore Danielle Crawford as All-Region IV First Team selections. Parker was named NJCAA National and Region IV Coach of the Year.

The Class of 2018 inductee gives Madison College six student-athletes and two team enshrinements into the Region IV Hall of Fame after first becoming eligible in 2017.
