MADISON, WISC. - The Madison College men's basketball team saw its goal of winning Region 4 Tournament championships came to a crashing halt Thursday with an 85-67 loss to Carl Sandburg College in a quarterfinal matchup inside Region 4 Division II Tournament. The #10-seeded Chargers drained 13 three-pointers, including nine in the first half, to beat the #7-seeded WolfPack in a rematch of last year's quarterfinals. Sandburg leads the all-time series by a 7-5 count and snapping the Pack's five-game win streak in head-to-head meetings that included two wins this season, the latest being just five day's prior in the regular season finale. The Madison College Athletics Department announced a group of outstanding former student-athletes to be inducted into the Madison College Athletic Hall of Fame as the Class of 2026. Former student-athletes Shane Ellis (men's basketball), Brandon Gibis (baseball), Patrick Houlihan (men's soccer), and Brock Roder (men's basketball) will be inducted during a ceremony held on Thursday, October 8 at Madison College Truax Campus to open the department's second annual Athletics Alumni Weekend. Additionally, long-time women's basketball assistant coach Mike Mayfield will be presented the Doug Redsten Memorial Service Award.
