Kallen Schwartz was one of 6 two-time national qualifiers for MATC from 1987-1989. Kallen was one of the best wrestlers ever at MATC. He was twice the team’s Most Valuable Wrestler and was the team captain in 1988. He led the team in over 15 statistical categories, which is an amazing feat. Kallen was named MATC’s Sportsperson of the Year in 1989.

“Kallen was a very goal-oriented person, who worked very hard,” said Coach Tiedeman. “He was a member of the MATC Alumni Association for years. His wife, Jean was very supportive of MATC wrestling and also graduated from MATC.”

Kallen came to MATC from River Valley High School, where he was a Regional and Sectional champion and a State WIAA qualifier. He also excelled in cross country and track. At MATC, he was named an Academic All-American in 1988-89 and received an Associate Degree in Automotive Mechanics and Small Engines. He presently runs his own business, Schwartz’s Custom Combining and also works as an Electrician with Schlough Electric.

He is a donator to local organizations, a volunteer at community parks and a sponsor of local sports teams, as well as a coach of youth baseball. Kallen’s hobbies include hunting, bowling and snowmobiling; as well as restoring old antique tractors.

He is married to his wife of 10 years, Jean, and they have two children: Ryan, age 6 and Katlin, age 2.
