Jeff was one of the best all-around basketball players in MATC history. He had the 4th highest single season total with 651 points, and finished 4th in career scoring with 998 points. Everson also was third in career steals, and 2nd in career assists, to show you the complete game that the Madison La Follette graduate brought to MATC for coach Jack Brenegan.
Everson was a member of Madison La Follette's 1982 State Championship Team, and went on to become a secon team All-City and second team All-Big Eight choice. The honors continued for Everson at MATC where he became an All-WJCAA and a NJCAA All-Region choice. The same 1988 season, Jeff was a WJCAA All-Academic choice, the MATC Team MVP, the Most Improved Player, and Co-Captain.
Jeff's favorite moment was one of the best in MATC sports history. In the first game in the new gym in 1986, MATC came from several points down to win the game by one point. It was Everson's free throws, before a jam-packed house with no time remaining, that secured the game for MATC.
"Beav" as he was affectionately called, was "not a very good practice player," according to his coach Jack Brenegan. "But once we inserted him into the lineup, we found he was an extremely tough competitor; the bigger the game, the better he played," recalled Brenegan.
After MATC, Everson went on and continued playing at University of Minnesota-Morris, where he was a second team All-NIC choice, while making the NIC All-Tourney team.
He later attained a Turf Management Degree from Anoka-Hennipen Technical College in 1995, and has been involved with golf courses ever since.
Everson has been the Assistant Superintendent at the Green Acres Country Club in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
