SEASON PREVIEW: 2026 Madison College WolfPack Men's Soccer

No longer the underdog, the Madison College men's soccer team will now be the hunted as they attempt to defend a Region 4 title and keep momentum after the program's debut appearance at the NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships in 2025. Fourth-year head coach Logan Fye faces the challenge of replacing ten key contributors lost to graduation while trying to mold and grow a new crop of WolfPack standouts as he leans on a small group of veterans. The 2026 squad, opening at #9 in the NJCAA Division II Preseason Poll, will find out where they stand real quick with two games in three days to start the season, which opens Friday night on the home pitch against Western Iowa Tech Community College.

“Going into the 2026 season, we know that it will be hard to replicate the success of 2025, but we also know that this year provides new opportunities. We have many new players who are eager to show what they are capable of at the college level. The experience of our returners showing the newcomers the way will be crucial to our success. I do not have concerns but I have questions over who will step up in key positions, as well as in leadership roles. Team cohesion was a massive piece to last year's team and I hope to continue that this season. We should have the team capable of achieving all of our goals, but we must not stand in our own way. The target will always be on our back and we have the privilege of wearing that. I look forward to having the opportunity to back up what we did last year with goals of achieving even more in 2026.”

Sophomores

Though their not big in number, the returning players for the WolfPack boast tremendous experience and played significant roles in the success of the 2025 team. Goalkeeper Caylen Coventry is back after a receiving First Team All-Region 4 recognition as a freshman, posting an 0.82 goals against average and setting a program record with 15 wins. Fellow second-year goalie Coltrane LoBreglio is waiting in the wings, should the team call on him. Will Skinner served as a team captain as a freshman. He and Gui Amaral were vital to a defenders group that limited opposing teams to 0.71 goals per game. Midfielder Josh Kiltz is the top returning goal scorer after finding the net five times, while fellow midfielder Mason Leslie and forward Gio Diaz each netted one goal. Amaral finished with two scoring strikes.

“Although there aren't many of them, this group of returners will prove to be top performers after our highly successful Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 seasons. Each of them have made strides in their game and bring back the experience of playing at the national tournament that we will need as we go along this season. They are eager to make their mark on this program even further in 2026.”

Freshman

The WolfPack welcome in 17 new faces to the program in 2026, meaning most will see significant playing time right away and be expected to contribute. Forward Angel Gomez Lopez won a WIAA Division 3 State Championship with Augustine Prep, while defender/midfielder Bryan Hernandez was a part of a state runner up at DeForest Area and defender Owen Counsell helped his team reach the state tournament at Brookfield East. Additionally, midfielder Criz Quezada was named a United Soccer Coaches All-American while at Sauk Prairie High School. Gomez Lopez will be joined by fellow forwards Dylan Sutton and Jonah Lander. The midfielder group features Luis Rojas, Isaac Diaz, Kian Downey, Caden Pullar-Newman, Mass Ndure, and Jayden Garcia. Part of the back line is Ben Young, Chuck Frank, Noah Gomez, and Joe Hildal. Thomas Randall, one of five new arrivals from outside the United States, will battle for time at goalkeeper.

“I'm very satisfied with how this year's recruiting class has turned out. It's a diverse group that has experience at all levels. We are excited to add a number of top local Madison area players and are pleased to bring in a handful of quality prospects from Illinois, as well as experienced and talented internationals. We hope to see each of them step up throughout the season in different ways.”

Schedule

Madison College will begin the 2026 campaign with a five-match homestand with four contests to be played out of the region. The Region 4 opener is set for September 5 against Oakton College, followed by a September 9 clash with #18-ranked Southeastern Community College. A string of six road matches over seven games is highlighted by a rematch of the Region 4 Tournament Championship against Triton College on September 23 and a non-region showdown with #17-ranked Parkland College on September 9. The WolfPack will host Youth Night on October 10 against Bryant & Stratton College and Sophomore Night on October 21 against Milwaukee Area Technical College, before wrapping up the regular season at Waubonsee Community College. Postseason play opens October 29, and Madison College will again host the 2026 NJCAA Region 4 Division II Men's Soccer Championship on Saturday, November 7, with the winner earning an automatic berth to the NJCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championships in Huntsville, Alabama.
