Following a record-setting 2017 season that ended at the NJCAA Division III National Championships for the Madison College women's soccer team, head coach
Matt Schwartz has announced a 14-member Class of 2018 to join the roster and continue to play at a national level. The group includes Kaitlyn Clapper (Lodi, WI), Lillian Glackin (Moline, IL), Olivia Graffin (Deerfield, WI), Breanna Griffin (Sun Prairie, WI), Jenna Kohrt (Monona, WI), Kelly Kubicek (Oregon, WI), Taylor Legler (Belleville, WI), Jacquelyn Luengas (Jefferson, WI), Emily Messer (Jefferson, WI), Rachel Messer (Jefferson, WI), Meghan Petroski (Watertown, WI), Mary Raemisch (Lodi, WI), Isabella Ramirez (Sun Prairie, WI), and Kaitlin Satern (Madison, WI).
Kaitlyn Clapper, a 5'2" defender, played two years of varsity soccer for Lodi HS, helping the blue Devils to back-to-back second place finishes in the Capitol Conference. She registered one goal and three assists over her career.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "She is a really smart outside back that can get up and down the field. Her ability to attack out of the back will make her a strong asset to our program."
Lillian Glackin, a 5'5" midfielder, played four years of varsity soccer at Moline HS, posting ten goals and 20 assists. She was a two-time all-conference selection, as well as all-area, all-metro, and a team captain.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Lillian is a very dynamic player that sees the field very well and is able to set her teammates up in great positions to make plays. I am very excited to have her join the WolfPack this fall."
Olivia Graffin, a 5'5" forward, earned all-conference accolades in the Capitol Conference as second team and honorable mention selections following her junior and senior seasons, respectively. The four-sport athlete at Deerfield HS scored 29 career goals and was chosen team captain as a senior.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Olivia is a dynamic outside player that can find great passes and link up with her teammates, as well as take defenders 1-on-1. She will be a dangerous addition to the 20018 squad and I'm excited to see her on the pitch."
Breanna Griffin, a 5'5" midfielder, played three years of soccer at Sun Prairie HS, which concluded with a 12-8-1 season her senior year.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Breanna is a physical player that can win the ball in the midfield and control the pace of the game. I am looking forward to adding her physical style of play to the team this fall."
Jenna Kohrt, a midfielder, joins the WolfPack after playing club soccer through Madison Area Homeschool Sports.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Jenna can play all over the field and is a player that can affect the game with her vision and passing. She works hard and will be a great addition to the program."
Kelly Kubicek, a 5'7" goalkeeper, helped Oregon HS to back-to-back appearances at the WIAA Division II State Girls Soccer Tournament, including a runner-up finish in 2018. The two-year varsity player allowed just three goals in 14 matches played during her career, which included a Badger South Conference title.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Kelly is a confident goalkeeper that works hard and does the little things well. She is someone that will stay focused and accomplish the goals that her teammates need from her in the net."
Taylor Legler, a 5'4" midfielder, transfers to Madison College from UW-La Crosse, where she did not play soccer. The Belleville HS grad left the Sugar River co-op third in all-time assists and eighth in career points after a four-year varsity career. Legler helped the Raiders to a pair of Capitol Conference titles and a WIAA Division III State Championship runner-up finish in 2016. She also collected two all-conference accolades and was honorable mention all-state as a junior.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Taylor is a transfer addition to our 2018 recruiting class that I'm really excited about. She is a strong winger that can serve an accurate ball and help out in the attack. I am excited to see what she brings to the team."
Jacquelyn Luengas, a 5'0" forward, was a two-time all-conference selection for Jefferson HS, earning second team as a senior and honorable mention as a junior.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Jackie is a very technical player that can take over a game in the midfield. She is able to take on defenders with her skill on the ball and create mismatches where she is. I'm excited to see what she brings to the team."
Emily Messer, a defender, joins her sister as the third player from Jefferson HS to commit to the WolfPack. She helped the Eagles to a 6-25-3 overall record during her career.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Emily is a smart, physical player that can win the ball anywhere on the field. She works very hard both defensively and offensively to make sure her team maintains possession."
Rachel Messer, a defender, picked up a pair of all-conference accolades when she was named first team as a senior and second team as a junior in the Rock Valley Conference.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Rachel is a smart defender that learns quickly, and is able to read and react to how her opponents are playing. Adding her to a tough defensive unit will no doubt have a huge positive impact for us."
Meghan Petroski, a 5'6" midfielder, was a four-time all-conference selection at Watertown HS, picking up second team honors as a senior in the Badger South Conference and first team honors as a junior in the Wisconsin Little Ten Conference. Named team Offensive MVP in back-to-back years, Petroski scored more than 40 goals in her high school career.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Megan is a great universal player who can player where ever she is needed. She will be a great team leader for us."
Mary Raemisch, a 5'10" midfielder, earned three varsity soccer letters at Lodi HS, where she helped the Blue Devils capture a Capitol Conference championships in 2016. Raemisch scored 31 goals and tallied 13 assists, picking up first team and honorable mention all-conference honors following her junior and senior seasons, respectively.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Mary is a very athletic player that will give us a lot of options in the attack this year. I am excited to see her on the field and we believe she will make an immediate impact as a freshman."
Isabella Ramirez, a 5'7" goalkeeper, played two years of soccer at Sun Prairie HS, helping the Cardinals to a 24-12-4 record during that time.
Comment from Coach Schwartz: "Isabella is a physical goalkeeper that takes charge of her defensive unit and plays a big role in organizing from the back. I am very excited to see her joining the WolfPack in the fall."
Kaitlin Satern, a forward/midfielder, comes to Madison College after playing at Madison La Follette HS.
