The penultimate doubleheader of the season could prove to be quite memorable for the Madison College softball team when they host the Black Hawk College-Moline Braves for two games at
Robert D. Goodman Softball Field on Saturday, April 28. In addition to Sophomore Day festivities to recognize the WolfPack's 11 second year players, the team will also be hosting Youth Day at The Park to invite area youth teams to enjoy a day of collegiate softball and potentially win some prizes for their team.
All youth teams, whether travel, school, or city affiliated, can register their program to attend the games and have a chance to win $300 from Badger Sporting Goods that will go towards equipment for their team. The drawing will take place during the second inning of the second game. Each team must register every player attending, and will receive an equal number of entries into the drawing.
The WolfPack, currently ranked #19 in the NJCAA Division II Poll and leading the North Central Community College Conference with a perfect 8-0 record, will host Black Hawk College-Moline for both team's final opportunity to improve their standing within NJCAA Region IV before the Region IV Tournament begins in early May.
Game one will start at noon, with a special ceremonial first pitch from Madison College administrators and the Goodman Foundation to help commemorate the year-old facility. In between the first and second game, which has an approximate start time of 2:00 p.m., Madison College will recognize the sacrifices, dedication, and accomplishments of its most veteran players with a Sophomore Day ceremony. That group includes
Sam Schloegl (Wilmot, WI),
Claire Brzenk (Pewaukee, WI),
Ashley Kniesel (Waterloo, WI),
Mackenzie Terrill (Milton, WI),
Ali Braddock (Waukesha, WI),
Bre Feiler (Cottage Grove, WI),
Emily Wiederholt (Cuba City, WI),
Ashley Burg (Slinger, WI),
Riley Landenberger (Roscoe, IL),
Katelin Gilbertson (Onalaska, WI), and
Hannah Wienen (Scales Mound, IL).
