17-0 run keys Madison College win ahead of season finale Saturday at #4 Rock Valley

GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - A big first half scoring surge propelled the Madison College men's basketball team to a 72-56 road win over the College of DuPage in a North Central Community College Conference battle on Wednesday. Four players scored in double-figures in the win, which gives the WolfPack a four-game win streak heading into Saturday's regular season finale at #4 Rock Valley College.

Trailing 16-10 nearly eight minutes into the game, Madison College began to put it all together when freshman Alex Easterday's interior bucket kickstarted a 17-0 run. Freshman Kye Burcham scored eights points during the stretch, including the final jumper that put the 'Pack ahead 27-16 with seven minutes left. The half ended with a 12-4 burst to hand the road team a 42-27 edge. The College of DuPage (4-19, 2-11)tried to make a game of it with at 13-2 scoring run that narrowed the differential to seven points with 12 minutes remaining. Four minutes later, Marcus Riser scored inside and the WolfPack rattled off nine straight points to regain a comfortable lead at 62-46.

Freshman guards Sean Suchomel and Kye Burcham led a balanced offensive output with 15 points each. Suchomel hit 4 of 8 shots with two 3-pointers and went 5 for 6 at the free throw line. The Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, native has scored ten or more points in three straight games, matching his longest streak of the season. He also had seven rebounds, three assists, and a team-high four steals. Burcham's 15 points matched a career-best for the former Madison Memorial HS athlete, who made 6 of 13 field goal attempts with a pair of three's and a free throw. Burcham also dished out a team-leading four assists, to go along with seven rebounds and three steals coming off the bench.

Alex Easterday and Tyree Young each tallied 11 points, as both drained half of their four made shots from long range and hit two free throws. Easterday tracked down eight boards, three assists, and a steal, while Young had four rebounds and three steals. The remaining three players on the Madison College roster (Jezzriah Burton, Nathaniel Buss, and Riser) all scored at least six points.
