GRAND MOMENT: 2OT penalty kick sends WolfPack to win in N4C opener

Andrews goal in 104' ends 3-2 match vs. Joliet Junior College

MADISON, WISC. - Just moments before a symbolic grand opening ceremony, the Madison College men's soccer team enjoyed a grand moment of their own with a 3-2 double-overtime sudden victory over Joliet Junior College on Wednesday night at Irwin A. & Robert D. Goodman Pitch-East. Sophomore All-American Toby Andrews penalty kick in the 104' delivered the dramatic win as the WolfPack open North Central Community College Conference play and start their season with three consecutive wins. The victory over the Wolves is the third straight and the fourth in the last five games.

Tied at two after regulation, Madison College came extremely close to ending the game in the final minute of the first extra session with a barrage of shots on goal. Toby Andrews was denied on a header, but it game the WolfPack a corner kick. Another header, this time by Ricardo Ramos, was punched out by the JJC 'keeper, who was up the task one more time as Toby Andrews footed a shot from the far sideline that arced towards the top of the goal and was tapped over bar as the horn sounded. In the second OT, the 'Pack drew a contact foul inside the box to earn the penalty kick, and when the Joliet Junior College (0-2, 0-1) goalkeeper dove to his right, Andrews converted to the lower right corner to net the winner. The goal is the third of the season for the London, England, native.

Joliet drew the first lead with a goal in the 33' minute past WolfPack goalkeeper Blake Dehn, but Madison College drew the equalizer in the second half. Sophomore Marco Peruzzo, a native of Vicenza, Italy, took a Jake Andrews pass and scooted it underneath the falling goalkeeper to even the score at one. For Peruzzo, it's his first career goal.

Eight minutes later the 'Pack earned their first penalty kick of the day, with Jake Andrews finding the back of the net for his second goal of the year and a 2-1 advantage. However, Madison College was unable to hold the lead and with less than five minutes remaining, the JJC attack scored again.

Madison College outshot the Wolves by a 26-13 margin, including a five shot advantage in shots on goal. The WolfPack also enjoyed a 9-2 edge in corner kicks. Blake Dehn finished with six saves in nearly 104 minutes in goal.
