GLEN ELLYN, ILL. - Riding a wave of success the program has not seen in years, the Madison College men's basketball team kept ride on cruising Saturday with a 70-51 road win over College of DuPage. The win, the team's sixth straight overall and fifth consecutive in the North Central Community College Conference, has propelled the WolfPack into second in the league standings.
Madison College (13-7, 5-1) sent a message early, scoring 16 points in the paint as they outscored the Chaparrals 25-6 over the games first nine minutes and 12 seconds, a run that saw the 'Pack net 11 consecutive points. The lead dwindled down to just three as the College of DuPage (6-16, 1-5) answered with an impressive 16-0 burst while the WolfPack went empty on ten successive possessions. The half finished with Madison College leading 34-25 after scoring nine of the half's final 12 points.
The WolfPack finished out the wire-to-wire win by extending their lead to double-digits for the near entirety of the second half, and holding as much as a 24-point advantage. In the end, the visitors dominated the game from the lane with a 40-14 differential in points in the paint. In securing ten more rebounds than the Chaparrals, the 'Pack also picked up 13 offensive boards that yielded 19 second chance points, 14 more than the home team. Madison College was also plus-ten in points off turnovers (26-16), opportunistically taking advantage of 22 DuPage miscues.
Sophomore

Tyree Young had ten points as the only other WolfPack player to reach double-digits, doing so for an eighth straight game. O'Donnell and Young tied for team-high honors with six rebounds a piece.
The WolfPack shot 51% (25-49), making more than half of their shot attempts for the third straight game, en route to earning their eighth win in 18 all-time meetings with the Chaparrals. Madison College is now 8-7 in the head-to-head series as conference foes.
The win allowed Madison College to jump Rock Valley College (16-6, 4-2) in the N4C standings after the Golden Eagles lost their second straight game over the weekend, 67-56, to first place and #3 (NJCAA DII) Triton College. The WolfPack will travel to Rockford, Illinois, on Wednesday for a showdown at third-ranked and defending national champion RVC. The Golden Eagles have dominated the series with the WolfPack of late, winning eight straight games dating back to the 2012-13 season and owning a 26-14 advantage all-time. In a weird twist, Madison College has fared much better south of the border, posting a 9-9 mark on the road compared to 4-14 at home against Rock Valley College. Tip off is at 7:30 p.m.
